After working as a graphic designer for a few years, I fell into bookbinding and printing as a hobby. Things got more serious in 2012 with classes and certificate programs at the San Francisco Center for the Book, where I began letterpress printing in earnest. Since then, I’ve worked independently as a designer/printer, spent time as a pressman for letterpress shops, and taught a few workshops along the way.
I joined Jason at Genghis Kern in 2014, back when we were printing in his garage with a space heater in winter and an open door in summer. Our presses are a bit more climate-controlled now. These days, I mostly run the pressroom and handle printing, with the occasional design job here and there.
Outside of work, I tinker with bikes, make pottery, study Japanese, and battle a houseplant obsession. The plants have invaded the shop, but they really tie the place together.
I’m a designer with 11 years of experience, having previous experience working at agencies and in-house for cultural institutions around Denver. Since 2021, I’ve been part of the team at Genghis Kern. These days, I live and work remotely from Ridgway, Colorado.
I try to live minimally (except when it comes to design books and art prints — those don't count). I’m always outside doing something — except when I’m inside being a homebody. When I was young I always felt that if I had the psychological fitness to go to Mars I would have done it in a heartbeat.
